Head over to Tomorrowland at Disney World's Magic Kingdom for a thrilling experience on Disney’s newest state of the art rollercoaster attraction! Traveling at speeds up to 59 miles per hour, TRON is sure to take your breath away!
Before you are able to ride TRON you must first secure your sport in live via Virtual que. Virtual queue is like a regular line except you don't have to physically be in line. You simply wait until your boarding group is called and then you typically will wait in a much shorter physical line. To acquire a boarding group number you must use the my disney experience app. Typically there will be 2 opportunities to secure a spot in the virtual queue. The first one is open to anyone with a park reservation for that day. You will need to be awake and ready to use the my disney experience app by 7:00 AM. When it is 6:59 make sure you have the virtual queue page pulled up in your app, select TRON and once on the TRON page start hitting the refresh button on the bottom of the screen. Once it is 7:00 AM you will be able to hit Join and by doing the refresh method as mentioned will almost guarantee you to get a Boarding Group. If you are not able to get a boarding group in the morning or simply forget to wake up in time you will have another opportunity to try at 1:00PM. The main difference this time is you must be in the park to join the virtual queue. Whereas before you could join from anywhere. If you were able to snag a spot in the virtual queue you will simply wait until your boarding group is called on the app and then you will make your way over to Tomorrowland and TRON!
TRON has a seat and ride system unlike anything ever seen at Disney World before. The light cycle is the vehicle you will board to ride TRON. This ride vehicle is different in the way that you sit. You will board and sit almost like you are riding a motorcycle, but unlike a motorcycle your legs will be tucked into the side of the vehicle with a metal bar coming over your calves to secure your legs during the ride. Once you grab the handle bars to pull them closer to you, a back plate will come over most of your back to make you feel hunched over, but don't worry you will still be able to sit up some if you don't like being that hunched over. If for any reason you can not ride like this the ride vehicles also have a typical seat with a lab bar at the end of every other light cycle vehicle. If you would like to ride in this you will simply need to let a cast member know when placing you for boarding. Before you board the ride you will have the chance to place any loose items in a free locker. These lockers are very easy to use and if you have any questions at all a cast member will be standing by to assist.
As the ride starts you will make your way out of the station and into a tunnel that illuminates blue as the ride prepares to launch. After a brief pause, you are launched from 0 to 60 in a matter of seconds (make sure you are smiling because this is when you will get your on ride picture taken) sending you outside under the massive canopy that can be seen when you are entering the ride. After a quick ride outside you will re enter the ride building where you will ride in the dark with special illuminated “gates” that you will pass through in order to beat the other programs racing through the grid. Once passing through all 8 inside gates your ride will come to an end and you will return to the station and exit the ride. On the way out you will have a chance to take a picture with a replica light cycle or head toward the gift shop located near Space Mountain in Tomorrowland where you can get all your TRON memorabilia.
