Sandals Dunn's River & Sandals Royal Plantation





Our first Jamaica trip was a memorable split experience between the new Sandals Dunn's River and the historic Sandals Royal Plantation in Jamaica. We were eager to see if the resorts lived up to the hype. This was our first time experiencing Sandals resorts, we are always looking for a good all inclusive, adults only resort so we couldn't wait!


Sandals Dunn’s River was absolutely stunning, with everything fresh, clean, and bright. The property, which had just opened, offered plenty of dining options, including a fantastic rum bar, oceanfront breakfast restaurant and the jerk shack that became a favorite spot of ours. We stayed in a Mammee Bay Oceanview Club Level Room with Balcony Tranquility Soaking Tub, which we used both to watch the fire shows and endless ocean views. I’d recommend opting for an oceanview room at the very least to truly appreciate the breathtaking coastal scenery, you don't want to fly all the way to Jamaica for some trees! While we didn’t have a butler suite, we quickly made friends with a couple who did, and we were amazed at the level of service they received—every time they needed something, from a drink to a snack, their butlers were right there, making it clear that upgrading to a butler suite is a great way to enhance the experience. I honestly could not recommend this property more! The reef that surrounds the resort makes for a serene paddleboarding experience, snorkeling, swimming or great for a glass bottom boat ride!













After a few days of excitement at Dunn’s River, we moved to Sandals Royal Plantation. This historic property is all about elegance and personalized service, with the entire resort operating on an all-butler-suite basis. Every room has a stunning ocean view, and the resort’s intimate size makes it feel like a hidden gem, the staff knew our names by day 2. The French restaurant was easily the best meal we had at any all-inclusive—exceptional flavors and impeccable service. The property is older, but it’s immaculately maintained, and although there are lots of stairs, it’s definitely worth it if you can manage them. The staff here provided top-tier service, and we found the entertainment team to be the best we encountered in Jamaica, ensuring we were entertained and cared for throughout our stay. We also made a day visit to Sandals Ochi which we enjoyed but were anxious to get back to our quieter resort. Staying at both Dunn's and Royal Plantation gives you access to Ochi, but only staying at Royal Plantation gives access to all 3 resorts! Shuttle schedules are posted daily along with activities and entertainment. It should be noted that while this is a very quiet resort with only one pool, the pool experience was not missed with the stunning views and gentle ocean. The quiet was broken up nicely with activities and fun late into the night with entertainers, karaoke and silent discos. Truly a remarkable and surprising experience from a smaller property I don't hear much about!




Both resorts had their own unique appeal, and the split trip allowed us to experience the best of both worlds. Sandals Dunn’s River offers a lively, modern atmosphere with great food and activities, while Sandals Royal Plantation provides a more exclusive, tranquil luxury experience. If you're looking for a romantic, fun vibe,  and a fresh new property, Dunn's River is a fantastic choice, but if you're after ultimate relaxation with top-tier service and an unbeatable ocean view, Royal Plantation will steal your heart. I would recommend either of these properties to any clients!

Family Trip
