One of My Favorite Things: The Food

Virgin does dining differently, and this is one of the biggest reasons I enjoy the cruise line.

Instead of one main dining room, you have 20+ places to eat, with restaurants ranging from Korean BBQ and Italian to steak and seafood. Most of the dining is included in your cruise fare, so you aren't paying an extra specialty-dining fee every night.

And there's no traditional cruise buffet!

What's Included?

Virgin includes quite a bit in the cruise fare:

- Dining at over 20+ eateries
- Basic Wi-Fi
- Soda, water, drip coffee and tea
- Group fitness classes
- Entertainment

Alcohol and some premium drinks cost extra, and Virgin does things a little differently when it comes to drinks — there's no traditional unlimited alcohol package.

One important change: gratuities are no longer included in the standard cruise fare on new bookings, so I make sure to factor those into the total vacation cost when I'm quoting Virgin for my clients.

Who Do I Think Virgin Is Great For?

I especially like Virgin for couples, honeymoons, anniversaries, girls' trips, groups of friends and adults who want to get away without the kids.

And don't think you have to be young or ready to party all night to enjoy it! That's one of the misconceptions I hear about Virgin. You can absolutely have a relaxing vacation onboard.

There are also some fun Virgin touches you won't find on a traditional cruise — like the famous red hammocks on Sea Terrace balconies and Scarlet Night, when the ship comes alive with entertainment, parties and plenty of red outfits.

Where Can You Go?

Virgin isn't just about quick Caribbean cruises anymore.

Depending on the season and itinerary, you can sail to destinations throughout the Caribbean and Bahamas, Mediterranean and Europe, Alaska, and beyond.

Amazing Food
The food in Belize is so fresh and flavorful. Some of the resorts on the mainland even grow their own gardens onsite.  And if you are into fishing, many restaurants on the island have a ‘you catch we cook’, where you can bring your fresh caught fish and they will prepare it for you. While I was in Belize, we ate at a variety of restaurants; every meal was tasty, from the little whole-in-the-wall café to the fancy sit-down restaurants. And the best part, I found most of the meals to be very reasonably priced, especially in the jungle of Belize.
