Planning a Walt Disney World vacation? If you've been scrolling through social media, watching YouTube videos, or getting advice from friends who visited years ago, there's a good chance you're hearing tips that simply don't apply anymore.
As a Disney travel agent, I help families plan Disney vacations every day, and one thing I see often is guests following outdated advice that ends up costing them extra time, money, or stress. 💰
Before you book your next Disney World vacation, here are three popular Disney tips that are completely outdated in 2026—and what I recommend instead.
Outdated Disney Tip #1: 'Always Buy Park Hopper'
For years, Disney fans insisted that Park Hopper tickets were a must-have. The idea was simple: visit one park in the morning and another in the evening to maximize your vacation.
But for many families in 2026, that's no longer the best strategy.
Why This Advice Is Outdated
Most guests underestimate how much there is to do in each park. Between attractions, dining reservations, entertainment, character experiences, and transportation time, it's surprisingly easy to spend an entire day in a single park.
If you're traveling with:
Outdated Disney Tip #2: 'Stay Off Property to Save Money'
This is probably one of the most common pieces of Disney advice I hear.
While staying off-site can sometimes save money, it's no longer a guaranteed way to get the best value.
Why This Advice Is Outdated
When comparing Disney resorts to nearby hotels, many travelers only look at the nightly room rate.
What they often overlook are additional costs and conveniences such as:
Outdated Disney Tip #3: 'You Have to Rope Drop Every Day'
If you've spent any time researching Disney vacations, you've probably heard the term 'rope drop.'
Rope dropping means arriving at the parks before opening to be among the first guests inside. 🕐
While this strategy can be helpful, many travelers now treat it like a requirement rather than a tool.
Why This Advice Is Outdated
Not every family wants to wake up before sunrise every day of their vacation.
Disney vacations should be enjoyable, not exhausting.
The Best Disney Advice in 2026
The biggest change in Disney vacation planning is that there is no longer a one-size-fits-all strategy.

Calling all Disney lovers! The Walt Disney World Resort has officially released the 2025 dates for two of the most beloved seasonal events — the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. If you're dreaming of a fall Disney vacation filled with festive fun, global flavors, and spooky (but not too spooky!) delights, now is the time to start planning your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth.
🍽️ EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will return late this summer.
Get ready for a culinary journey around the world! The EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival 2025 will take place from August 28th through November 22nd. This fan-favorite event features:

If you're planning a spring vacation to Disney World the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World Resort. This seasonal event takes place each spring inside EPCOT and is one of the most popular Disney World festivals for families, couples, and Disney fans. This festival runs from March 4th through June 1st in 2026.
This colorful festival combines Disney character topiaries, outdoor kitchens, live concerts, gardens, and exclusive festival food, making it a must-do experience during a spring trip to Disney World.
As a Disney travel agent, this is one of my favorite festivals to recommend to clients because it offers beautiful scenery, unique food experiences, and limited-time entertainment that guests can only experience during the festival season.
🌼 Incredible Disney Character Topiaries
One of the biggest highlights of the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is the stunning Disney character topiaries placed throughout the park. These living sculptures are created by Disney horticulture experts and are one of the most photographed features of the festival.
Guests can see topiary displays featuring beloved characters such as:

Planning a Disney vacation is one of the most exciting parts of any trip but choosing between Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort can feel like a magical dilemma! ✨
Both destinations offer incredible attractions, immersive storytelling, unforgettable entertainment, and that signature Disney magic we all love. But while they may share the Disney name, the experiences are surprisingly different. Whether you are dreaming of a quick castle getaway or a full week of adventure, this guide will help you decide which Disney destination is the perfect fit for your next vacation.
1. Location & Travel Style ✈️🚗
One of the first things to consider is how far you want to travel and what kind of trip you are envisioning.
Located in Anaheim, California, Disneyland Resort is often more convenient for travelers on the West Coast and can be ideal for shorter vacations or weekend getaways. Meanwhile, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida is a larger destination that typically works best for longer stays and travelers coming from the East Coast.

Among the various cruise options available, Carnival Cruise Line stands out with it's vibrant atmosphere and lively entertainment. Many cruise ships offer all of the bells and whistles but when embarking on your first cruise, it can be overwhelming. Let me introduce you to one of the ships in Carnival's fleet, the Carnival Paradise, a ship that offers unforgettable journey filled with excitement, relaxation, and endless possibilities. Let's dive into what Carnival Paradise entails and if it would be a good fit for you and your family.
Accommodations:
Carnival Paradise is a Fantasy-class cruise ship that first set sail in 1998. Over the years, it has undergone refurbishments to ensure it meets the evolving expectations of modern cruisers. With a capacity for over 2,000 passengers, this ship offers a perfect balance of intimate spaces and lively communal areas. This ship has various staterooms to accommodate different preferences as well as different budgets. Whether it is a cozy interior cabin to a spacious suite with a private balcony, you will be sure to find a stateroom to best fit you and your needs. During my sailing, we stood in an ocean view stateroom that had 2 port holes. The room itself had plenty of space and storage for the two of us. The room can be viewed on the smaller side for a larger family or party but we found it to be perfect especially given we spent most of our time exploring the ship or our port of call. Since it was our first cruise, we did not mind having the two port holes to look out of as we were unsure of how well we would do with the views of the water. If you are more comfortable with the idea of your first cruise, I recommend getting a stateroom with a larger window or a balcony to take advantage of the views.
Cruising Delights:
This ship offers many dining options whether it is formal dining rooms, to the casual buffet, Guy's Burger Joint, or even some Latin flavors at BlueIguana Cantina. Room service is also available for fee to ensure no matter what time of day it is, you will be able to indulge. Whether you or someone in your party are picky eaters or an adventurous foodie, you will be sure to find something you enjoy. Of course many frequent cruisers will be able to relate when I say some of the best ice cream you will ever devour will be on your ship as you float in the middle of the ocean.
On-Board Activities:
Carnival is known for it's lively entertainment and Carnival Paradise is not an exception. During our sailing, there were plenty of activities such as trivia games, Punchline comedy shows, and of course games of bingo and Deal or No Deal. Even during breaks in between shows there were plenty of opportunities to explore spaces such as the pool, hot tubs, waterslides, spa, fitness center, casino, and the kid's clubs. A few nights of our sailing there were also themed events such as a white out party followed by silent disco, an 80's night, and captains dinner where many of the guests dressed accordingly and enjoyed various activities or listened to the themed music.
Although I enjoyed all of the amenities this ship had to offer as well as my ports of call, I believe what really made my time even more enjoyable was the service I received. Between our wait staff in the dining room to our room attendant, everyone managed to remember us by name and made sure we had everything we needed our entire stay. If you're looking to book your first cruise and are overwhelmed with all of the options, I think Carnival Paradise is a great option. It gives you many of the benefits and recreations as the larger ships do but also gives you some intimacy to get to know your sail mates and gives you a smaller ship to get familiar with.

For avid Harry Potter fans, Universal Orlando Resort is a dream come true. With immersive lands dedicated to the magical world, the Wizarding World of Harry Potter offers an enchanting experience like no other. Whether you're a seasoned witch or wizard or a first-time visitor, here's how to craft the perfect day at Universal Orlando for all Harry Potter enthusiasts.
1.Arrive Early for a Magical Morning 🕗
The key to a perfect day at Universal Orlando is arriving early. Beat the crowds by entering the park as soon as it opens. If you have a park-to-park pass, head directly to the Hogwarts Express, which connects the two Harry Potter lands - Hogsmeade in Islands of Adventure and Diagon Alley in Universal Studios Florida. If you're staying in Universal resort hotel, make sure to take advantage of the early entry benefit.
2.Start in Hogsmeade 🚂
Begin your magical journey in Hogsmeade, where you'll find the breathtaking Hogwarts Castle. Visit the iconic attractions in this part of the Wizarding World, including:

A trip to the Walt Disney World Resort is a magical experience, filled with enchanting moments, thrilling rides, and unforgettable memories. However, as time goes by, those precious memories can fade away over time, unless they're beautifully captured. That's where Disney's Memory Maker comes into play. Here are six ways Memory Maker will enhance your next trip to Disney and why I believe it is worth adding to your package.
1.Professional Photography 📸
One of the most significant advantages of Disney's Memory Maker is the access it provides to professional photographers throughout the Disney parks. These skilled photographers are strategically stationed at iconic locations, including Cinderella Castle, Spaceship Earth, and Main Street U.S.A. They understand the parks' best angles, lighting, and backgrounds, ensuring that your photos turn out picture-perfect.
2.Capturing Every Magical Moment 🏰
Disney's Memory Maker allows you to capture every magical moment of your trip. Whether it's a heartwarming character interaction, a thrilling ride experience, or a captivating nighttime show, you won't miss a thing. No need to ask strangers to take your photos, and no more selfies that cut off Cinderella's castle or Epcot's iconic Spaceship Earth.
3.Unlimited Digital Downloads 📲
With Memory Maker, there's no need to choose which photos to buy. For a single upfront fee, you get unlimited digital downloads of all your photos. This means you can share and print as many as you like, creating a delightful collection of memories to revisit again and again.
4.Magic Shots and Animated Photos 🧚
In addition to traditional photos, Memory Maker offers Magic Shots and animated images. Magic Shots are photos where Disney adds a touch of enchantment, such as Tinker Bell appearing in your hand or your favorite Disney characters magically joining your group. Animated images, on the other hand, bring your photos to life with subtle movements, adding a whole new layer of charm to your collection.
5.Convenient and Less Stress 😎
By purchasing Memory Maker, you can leave your camera at home and enjoy the parks with less stress. You won't need to worry about having your camera or smartphone out, charging batteries, or running out of storage space. This peace of mind allows you to fully immerse yourself in the magic of Disney.
6.Great for the Whole Family 👨👩👧👦
Disney's Memory Maker is perfect for families and groups, as it ensures that everyone is included in the photos. No one needs to be the designated photographer or be left out of the group shots. Memory Maker captures the moments, so you can all be present and enjoy your time together.
Memory Maker is an amazing way to capture all of your magical memories from Walt Disney World. Purchasing this feature ahead of time also saves you money! If you are interested in adding Memory Making to your Disney Vacation Packages, ask your travel agent to assist! Don't have a travel agent? I would love to help!
Whether you’re a Toy Story fanatic, a Star Wars connoisseur, or just love good entertainment and att...
Whether you’re a Toy Story fanatic, a Star Wars connoisseur, or just love good entertainment and attractions; Hollywood Studios has something for everyone. This park happens to be one of my personal favorites. It is home to some of Disney’s most popular rides and unique shows which definitely makes it one of the busiest parks. It can be quite difficult to get everything done in one day, but with these tips you will be sure to have an unforgettable visit.
Arriving in Style 🚇
All parks have access to the Disney bus system but Hollywood Studios has access to a few other ways of transportation that will be sure to make you feel like a movie star. This park is one of two that has access to the Disney Skyliner which makes it easier to get to and from various resorts as well as park hop to Epcot. Along with the Skyliner, Hollywood Studios is also one of two parks where guests could arrive via a Friendship Boat. I highly recommend making use of these forms of transportation as they offer a fun alternative to get your Hollywood day started.
Rope Drop 🕗
Rope dropping is when you arrive at the park right at opening. It is often recommended to rope drop for all four parks especially if you only have one day to spend at each of them. I would HIGHLY recommend rope dropping Hollywood Studios given the popularity of the park and its attractions. This will help ensure you are getting to experience as many rides, shows, and character meet and greets as possible. If you are staying at a Disney resort, you will be able to enter the park 30 minutes earlier than other guests. To make sure you are getting the most out of your day, head straight for some of the most high traffic rides. This includes Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash, Hollywood Tower of Terror, and Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railroad.
Lightning Lanes ⚡
It can be quite difficult to get all the attractions done in one visit to Hollywood Studios without rope dropping or adding Lightning Lanes to your day. Whether you would like to ensure you get as much done as possible or if you would like to skip rope dropping, I would HIGHLY recommend adding Lightning Lane Multi Pass to your overall trip budget. The best way to use your Lightning Lanes is getting the popular attractions done first! This would include Slinky Dog Dash, Mickey & Minnie Runaway Railway, Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, Hollywood Tower of Terror.
Toy Story Land
As you step into Andy’s backyard, get ready to join the gang and become a toy yourself. No matter where you look, you will not be disappointed by the playful atmosphere and amusing attractions.
Must Try Food and Drinks:

The Beak & Barrel officially opened it's doors to the public August 29th, 2025. This new experience is a pirates themed tavern located at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Adventureland, right next to the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. Given the theming, it continues the lore of Pirates of the Caribbean: storytelling, immersive décor, cast members in character, atmospheric rooms (the Captain’s Quarters, the Mapmaker’s Room, the Mess) etc.
Whether you're a fan of cocktails or prefer non-alcoholic options, there are several interesting choices. Some fruity, some more complex. Definitely not just “theme park bar food/drink” in the bland sense. I tried both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options: Plunderer’s Punch was fun (especially with the souvenir skull mug, though pricey), and the non-alcoholic one Treasure Trove is creative and indulgent. I will say some of the alcoholic drinks can be stronger than others. The small plates are tasty and thematic. They’re not full meals, but perfect paired with drinks.
My Verdict: Is It Worth Visiting?
Short answer: Yes it is, especially if you work it into your plan smartly.
Here’s how I size it up:
Planning a Disney vacation is exciting- but let’s be honest, it can also be completely overwhelming....

Embarking on your first cruise is an exciting and memorable experience, but it's essential to be well-prepared to make the most of your journey on the high seas. Whether it is your first cruise or just looking to refresh your knowledge, these tips will cover everything you need to know before setting sail.

I recently sailed on the Carnival Sunrise out of Miami, Florida and was pleasantly surprised! There is quite a bit of controversy concerning this ship in particular so I was unsure what to expect. If you are unfamiliar with this ship, it was previously known as the Carnival Triumph but after a refurbishment and rename back in 2019 it now known as the Sunrise which is a part of the Sunshine class.
During our embarkation, the process was very smooth and quick. The only con we faced was the traffic getting into the port itself so I would make sure to account for the extra time! Like most ships, a lot of the common areas including the buffet can be a bit crowded until the staterooms are ready so I like to use this time to explore areas such as the fitness center, the spa, kid's clubs, and lounges. We had an ocean view stateroom on deck one which I surprisingly enjoyed due to having quick access to the gangway on our port days. The stateroom was also midship so we were able to get to the common areas such as the lounges and buffet fairly quick via the stairs or elevator.
Some of the ship's amenities included Sports Square which has a ropes course, foosball, pool tables, shuffle board, basketball, and corn hole. There is also two pools and various hot tubs across the ship as well as water slides. Like many Carnival ships you can also find the adult's only area, Serenity, and kid's clubs. The main theater on this ship is called The Liquid Lounge and here you can enjoy shows from the Playlist Productions and participate in BINGO.
Our stops for this sailing included Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay, and Nassau- all of which were beautiful and had amazing weather even in the winter month of January. Both Grand Turk and Nassau you are able to simply walk off the ship but as for Half Moon Cay, a tender boat is needed to get onto the island. Half Moon Cay is a private island owned by Carnival therefore is does not become too crowded. Lunch is included on this and usually lasts a couple of hours which is barbeque style with hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, and more!
Embarking on the Carnival Sunrise came with laughs, relaxation, and memories to last a lifetime. From the waitstaff at dinner remembering your name and drink order from the night before, to your room attendant leaving a unique towel creation on your bed, the amazing crystal clear water on the beach of Turks and Caicos, and of course watching the Love and Marriage show- there are so many experiences to be had. You cannot go wrong with booking a sailing on this ship.
